Specialist engineering recruitment.

We work with engineering firms across the United Kingdom — from skilled trades and site teams through to design, project and technical leadership appointments.

Who we are

A single sector, properly understood.

SASD Consulting recruits for one industry. That focus is deliberate: it means we understand what a role involves before we begin searching, and we can distinguish between a CV that reads well and an engineer who can do the work.

We support the full breadth of the sector — smaller firms appointing a maintenance engineer or site fitter, and larger organisations building out design, civil and project teams. Both are engineering, and both are treated with the same rigour.

How we help

Two sides of the same shortage.

Skilled engineers are hard to find, and good roles are hard to judge from outside. We work at both ends.

For employers

Engineering firms

We begin with the technical detail of the role — the equipment, the site, the standards, the working pattern. Candidates are then assessed against that specification, and presented with a considered view of where each one fits and where they do not.

  • A full technical briefing before any search begins
  • A considered shortlist rather than a volume of CVs
  • A candid assessment of each candidate’s suitability

For candidates

Engineers

You will be given an accurate picture of the role — the work itself, the team, the site and the package — before any decision is required of you. Where a position is not right for you, we will say so.

  • An accurate account of the role, not a rewritten advert
  • Your details are never shared without your consent
  • A response either way

What we cover

The disciplines we recruit in.

Manufacturing, construction, energy and infrastructure. Permanent and contract roles.

  • Mechanical & manufacturing

Fitters, machinists, mechanical engineers and manufacturing leadership, from shop floor through to plant level.

  • Electrical & electronics

Electricians, electronics and hardware engineers, controls and automation engineers, PLC programmers and instrumentation specialists.

  • Maintenance & field service

Multi-skilled maintenance engineers, reliability teams and field service engineers covering sites nationally.

  • Design & CAD

Design engineers, draughtspeople and CAD technicians across mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines.

  • Civil & structural

Civil, structural and site engineers supporting construction and infrastructure programmes.

  • Projects & site management

Project engineers, site managers, contracts managers and senior technical appointments.

How we work

How a search runs.

The same three stages on every assignment, whichever side of the appointment you are on.

  1. Define the role precisely

For a client, that means the technical requirements rather than a job title. For a candidate, it means establishing what you are looking for and what you would not accept. Everything that follows depends on this being accurate.

  2. Search actively

We approach the market directly rather than circulating an existing database. The strongest engineers are usually already in work, which means they have to be identified and approached properly.

  3. Brief both sides fully

Clients receive an honest assessment, including reservations. Candidates receive an accurate account of the role. An appointment that ends within months serves no one.

Our approach

How we differ.

  • A single sector

Engineering is the whole of our practice, not one desk among many. The depth that allows is the reason clients return.

  • Technical fluency

We are able to read a specification and hold a competent technical conversation, so candidates are assessed on capability rather than keyword matching.

  • Direct contact

You deal with the consultant conducting your search from first conversation to appointment, without being passed between account handlers.

  • Selective engagement

Where we do not believe we can fill a role to a proper standard, we say so at the outset rather than accepting the assignment regardless.

Questions

Common questions.

No. Candidates are never charged. Our fees are met by the companies who engage us, which is standard practice for recruitment agencies in the United Kingdom.

We work nationally. Engineering activity is distributed across sites and regions throughout the country, so we do not restrict ourselves to a single area.

From skilled trades and maintenance engineers through to design, civil and structural engineers, project engineers and site management. If an assignment falls outside our areas of competence, we will tell you.

Both. A significant proportion of engineering work is project-driven, so contract and temporary appointments sit alongside permanent placements as a normal part of our practice.

No. Your details are never forwarded without your explicit consent, and you will always be told which organisations we are approaching on your behalf.

By email. Send your CV to the address on this page and we will take it from there.
